Top 5 Last Minute Healthy Christmas Gift Ideas

Good news: it’s Christmas on Sunday! Bad news: if you’ve got any pressies left to get you’ve got a matter of days left to sort them, less if you factor in the pesky postal strike!

And while health and fitness might not be top of the agenda right now, I’m betting it will be for a fair few January. So with that in mind, I thought it might be a good idea to share my top 5 healthy Christmas Gift ideas with you.

Festive Snack Mix

A lot of people buy friends and family chocolates and novelty foods for Christmas, which leads to the majority of us panic-eating them before January and that new year resolution rolls around. So why not think ahead and opt instead for a healthier but festive alternative. Buy a kilner-type jar of your choice, throw the following ingredients in, tie some christmas ribbon around the top and you’ve got a great little handmade gift for those hard-to-buy-for-people.

Ingredients

  • Coconut flakes
  • Dried cranberries and raisins
  • Crumbled dark chocolate
  • Mixed raw nuts (almonds, macadamias, brazil, cashews)

Rough budget: £10 per jar

Magnesium Spray

This is a great gift for anyone who struggles to get a decent night’s sleep. Magnesium has long been touted as a fantastic way to help you relax, but by applying it topically before bed it can instantly improve the quality of your kip, making it easier to nod off whilst boosting your magnesium levels which can often be a little neglected!

Recommended product: Ancient 237ml Minerals Magnesium Oil

Rough budget: £20

Sunrise Alarm Clock

Another sleep aid, this recent addition in our house is proving a huge hit. The light gradually dims over 30 minutes, simulating sunset and then sunrise in the morning, helping your body to produce the right hormones at the right times to ensure you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to face the day. Unless you’re hungover.

Recommended product: Lumie Bodyclock Starter 30 Wake-Up Light Alarm Clock
Rough budget: £60

TRX Suspension Trainer

Hundreds of new fitness products are released every January, claiming to revolutionise the way we train. Sadly the vast majority range from farcical (search Hawaii Chair or Shake Weight on YouTube for a chuckle) to useless, but the suspension trainer is one piece of kit that can truly claim to be a game changer. Portable, fun, and most importantly a fantastically efficient way to exercise, the original TRX has proved a huge success leading to many imitations flooding the market. We use them regularly at our Greenwich studio and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Recommended product: TRX Suspension Training Home Kit
Rough Budget: £150 (incl. the ceiling mount)

New Year Transformation Package

Now I’m biased, obvs, but if you or someone you’re close to is truly serious about overhauling their health in 2017, why not get them the ultimate gift of a training and nutrition coaching package. Working with a Personal Trainer or coach is the very best way to get incredible, lasting results with that magic ingredient – accountability! I’m going to go ahead and recommend our New Year Transformation Packages here at Greenwich Training – if you’re interested simply click here to get in touch.

Recommended product: GT New Year Transformation Package
Rough budget: £25 per session

So there you have it, my rundown of the best health and fitness products to finish off any uncompleted Christmas shopping lists…honourable mention for the mighty spiraliser which didn’t quite make the top 5 this year!

Have a fantastic Christmas break, do whatever makes you happy and I’ll see you on the other side.

Ian.
