Out & About April

Ahh Easter is here, spring lambs, hot Cross buns and mountains of Chocolate. I love this time of year. Greenwich Park gardeners busy themselves with the seasonal planting, the grass gets its first trim and the summer wardrobe comes out of hibernation.

This half term why not take your little chicks to the new improved Greenwich Park playground, lots to keep the little ones active and it looks fantastic. Or if you would like to work up your appetite before the chocolate chow down then head to Potters Fields for an Easter Egg hunt. Promising a day of free chocolate themed fun for all the family, the Lindt Gold Bunny Easter Hunt gives everyone the chance to connect with some favourite Easter traditions. The event is in celebration the 60th anniversary of the Lindt Gold Bunny’s association with Easter and gives kids young and old; the chance to explore the park in search of the gold foil wrapped bunnies. It also includes a range of activities and craft sessions that are bound to be popular with the kids. Get creative at the Easter bonnet making workshop or opt for a colourful and seasonal design at the face painting sessions. Potters Fields, SE1 – arrive by River Boat to London Bridge pier and walk back towards Tower Bridge. Or hop a 188 bus from the centre of Greenwich which stops on Tower Bridge Rd. 10am – 4pm, Saturday 7th April 2012. Admission is free.

Closer to home the Friends of East Greenwich Pleasaunce and The Bridge Playgroup are holding an Easter Egg Hunt in the Park on Easter Sunday from 11am till 1pm (£2 per child). With two hunts this year, one for under 5’s and one for over 5’s. So while the kids hunt you can enjoy a Cake at the cake stall, a fine cup of coffee at Pistachios and maybe win a prize in the raffle.

Other half term fun can be found at many of the Easter workshops. Tiptoes & Tappers have joined forces with Boppin Bunnies and Theatre Tots too provide a whole host of entertainment for little ones. Children are invited to come for one of or both days at a cost of £25 per day or £45 for both. Classes will be held in the basement hall and room 2 (basement) of Mycenae house. Covering various styles of dance, drama and music. Or Theatrebugs is offering three fun filled days jam packed with a great mix of drama, music, dance, arts and crafts, games and dressing up in various venues across the borough with siblings receiving a 10% discount.
