NECP invite you to our next show- our October play which this year is a stage adaptation of Edith Nesbit’s famous children’s novel “The Railway Children”.

This event is suitable for: All ages

This event costs: £10 for adults and £5 for children (12 and under)

Living as she did at Well Hall in Eltham for 22 years where she wrote many of her famous books including The Railway Children, she was one of our most famous and fascinating former residents.

The story tells us about an Edwardian family, the Waterburys, living a happy suburban life in Edgecombe Villa in London, a house with “every modern convenience” as the estate agents would say. But that happy life comes to an abrupt end when their father, who works at the Foreign office, is suddenly and mysteriously taken away.

The family is forced to move to a small house far away in the country close to a railway line where they must lead a life of near-penury. The adventures they have as they roam the fields by the railway waving to the 9.15 train each day, the friendships they make, and the way in which the children learn to deal with their new situation are lovingly told in the book and re-created for you in this stage adaptation by Mike Kenny.

Price: £10 for adults and £5 for children (12 and under)
