Festival Fever hits Greenwich this month kicking off a season that really does have an event for everyone and every budget. From books to sailing, parks to comedy, you’ll be sure to find an event that you and your family will love. Starting this week and running till September Greenwich residents have front row seats and access to some of the best performers, writers and artists the UK has to offer!

Parksfest: June 3rd to July 22nd. A festival of open-air entertainment in Greenwich’s parks, pleasaunces and commons. Parksfest encourages residents to watch live music dance and theatre performances by local artists and groups. Parksfest is planned, organised and delivered by the Friends of Parks groups. Greenwich Book festival – 15-16 June. Small charge for some events others Free
Based on the banks of the Thames in the Old Royal Naval College the Greenwich Book Festival return for its 3rd year. A wide-ranging programme aims to be inclusive, welcoming to all ages and diverse. Grand Medieval Joust – 16th and 17th June. Experience a spectacle of speed and skill as four of the most masterful knights in the kingdom, mounted on their magnificent steeds. Choose your champion and see who is victorious in this colourful display of chivalry and courage. Surround yourself in pageantry and marvel at falcons in flight. The living history encampments will take you back in time, where you’ll be kept entertained by the court jester and merry musicians. Further details here.

Greenwich Music Festival – 9th June 22nd July. Enjoy the rich, rhythmic sounds of live music from around the World, and closer to home, with a series of free one-day music events in Charlton, Eltham and Woolwich. Greenwich Festival Fever

Greenwich & Docklands International Festival (GDIF) –  22-June to 7th July FREE Greenwich Festival Fever
GDIF transforms the everyday into something wonderful: A visually spectacular programme of outdoor performances that animate the streets and sky, to tell stories of courage, optimism, love, inspiration, mortality and beauty. The Festival brings something unexpected and miraculous wherever it goes. Take your pick of endless events here…

Greenwich Music Time –  3rd July – 8th July. Tom Jones and Emile Sande are just two of the stellar acts this year on the stage by the Thames. Not forgetting Steps, the first headline act to be announced for Greenwich Music Time 2018. Those of a certain age will remember the pop video in which the boys drove across Blackheath. Altogether now. Tragedy!

Sail Royal Greenwich  – July 4 – 8 July 2018. Ten fabulous tall ships will be cruising up and down the River Thames – and you’re invited on board. Cruises sail from Royal Arsenal Woolwich up the river Thames to Greenwich and beyond.

OnBlackheath –  8th – 9th September. Born out of a desire to stage an event that would celebrate this stunning part of London, OnBlackheath was created as the perfect festival for unwinding and putting a smile on your face; showcasing the best in local and international artists, serving up amazing food, and offering a world of fun for our younger visitors. Totally Thames – 1st – 30th September.  Is An annual celebration of the River Thames with a creative and diverse programme that inspires, connects and enthrals throughout the month of September curated and managed by the Thames Festival Trust.
