Royal Arsenal Riverside and Kidbrooke Village Celebrate the Platinum Jubilee weekend

Jubilee festivities will be in full swing at Royal Arsenal Riverside (Woolwich) and Kidbrooke Village (near Blackheath) on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June, and everyone in the community is invited to come down to enjoy food, live music, and games!

The weekend kicks off at Royal Arsenal Riverside at noon on Saturday 4 June.  The Jubilee event, One table, One street, will centre around one long table stretching down Number One Street where people can sit for a drink, chat with their neighbours, and enjoy the festivities.

Queens Jubilee

There will be two entertainment stages, including one for local musicians, and a series of smaller events up and down the street.  The day will kick off with a performance from the local Royal Arsenal School of music choir alongside a friendly tag rugby match organised by the local team.  The live music line-up will be topped off by the eight-piece Mish Mash Band, playing between 4 pm and 6 pm, before a DJ takes over for the final hour.  The festivities will then continue into the night at an after-party with drinks and music in the Dial Arch pub.

Local artist Caroline Handswill be at the event working with a team of litter pickers to create a temporary art project on the day which will be recycled the same night.  There will also be a Wellness Tent on Dial Arch Green with local charity Blink and Royal Arsenal Riverside’s The Yoga Space London, as well as a community dog show.  There will be plenty to keep kids happy too, with an activity area for giant games along with storytellers, a face painter, and bubble shows.

The next day, the fun continues just down the road at Kidbrooke Village, where Jubilee celebrations are taking place from 12 pm in South Cator Park.  In full family Sports Day style, there will be races and competitions like a classic egg and spoon race organised by local business Royal Resistance Gym.  The Royal Borough of Greenwich and the English Cricket Board will also be there on the day to host a range of sporting activities.

Everyone’s invited to come along to Kidbrooke Village’s community dog show where local pups will be crowned for accolades such as waggiest tail and best paw shaker.  Children will be able to play in a giant games area with Jenga, corn holes, and chess.

Local artists and a band will be playing on stage, with face painters making an appearance too.  There will be plenty of tables and families are encouraged to bring a picnic or grab a bite to eat from one of the wonderful street food traders on the day.
