Calling all volunteers - The Bridge Community Centre in East Greenwich Pleasaunce needs your help!

We are looking for new stay and play volunteers to help run our weekly Under 5s sessions and be part of our friendly, close-knit community.

The Bridge, tucked away in the south-west corner of the beautiful hidden gem, East Greenwich Pleasaunce, is a community centre providing popular and affordable stay-and-play baby and toddler sessions and is also available for regular hire by children's activity providers, including pre-school activities and an after-school club; adult yoga sessions and gardening groups are also held. The funds raised through these initiatives all go towards the continual improvement of the facilities and services which have been transformed over the last few years.

As a self-funded and volunteer-led centre for the whole community, we still rely heavily on volunteers in many different capacities, from playgroup supervision to accounting, communications and event organisation.

Our stay and play sessions take place between 10am-12pm and 12.30-2.30pm on a Tuesday and Wednesday and between 10am-12pm on a Friday morning. We are looking for help at all these sessions so if you are available on any of those days, we would love to hear from you!

Role of a volunteer
Volunteers are responsible for either opening up for 10 am (at 9.50am) if helping at a morning session or handing over to the After School Club at 3 pm if helping at an afternoon session.

Volunteers are responsible for setting up their session, choosing from the different activities, toys and/or soft play equipment available in our store room and outdoor container (for the outdoor toys). If they would like to, they can also encourage messy play, story time, singing, or art and crafts and if there is a particular activity the volunteer would like to introduce on a regular basis, The Bridge will help promote it.

Sessions run for 2 hours with a 30 minute clean and tidy up time. AM sessions are from 10 till 12 pm with a handover at 12.30pm. PM sessions are from 12.30 till 2.30pm with a 3 pm handover to the after-school club.

Volunteers are responsible for getting users to sign into the daily attendance sheets and for taking money (£2 per family of 2 and 50p per additional child), as well as counting and locking it away at the end of the session.

Volunteers are responsible for making visitors feel welcome, showing them our housekeeping and safety form, our amenities and offering tea and coffee.

Volunteers are responsible for leaving the centre clean for the next session or club.

Being a stay and play volunteer is a great way to meet people and give back to the community - whilst also making use of our fantastic indoor and outdoor facilities if you have a little one in tow! We offer first aid, safeguarding and other training opportunities which all add together to give you invaluable experience to add to your CV and support future career plans, especially for local people who have perhaps taken a career break and are looking to re-enter the workspace.
