7 signs you are a Jedi Parent

Every mother and father is a tough cookie in their way.

Whether navigating day to day parenting, school runs and small babies. Or doing their best to keep and not lose their sanity. But how many of you knew you were a Jedi parent? So a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Here are our top seven signs you are at one with “the force”.

Jedi Parent

1. You aren’t afraid to offer up random advice and pep talks. “Indeed, my son you are powerful, bright, tallest in your class” or “You will meet your destiny.” said with a knowing nod. See quoting Star Wars, in every effort to encourage your youngling is standard and second nature to you.

2. Using the force when something isn’t right. Whether you get “a feeling” your child is off somewhere doing something they ought not to be, or things are just little too quiet for your liking. You are at one with your child.

3. Raising young padawans when it seems stormtroopers surround you. Kindness, mindfulness and responsibility. These are some of the things we Jedi Mums and Dads try to teach our kids on a daily basis. It’s all about helping little people use their powers for good – including cleaning their bedrooms and feeding the cat.

4. Shooting down last-minute requests like an expert X-Wing Fighter. Cake sales/costumes/school trips. You keep your cool and stay resourceful. Pinterest and Google are your friends.

5. Train in the Jedi Temple and take advice from the high council. Known as parent groups like Greenwichmums.com we are a judgment-free zone, where you can hone your skills, and exchange notes with other Jedi’s. Plus we also meet every two weeks for coffee and cake!

6. We teach kids not to be scared to stand up for themselves. As fear is the path to the dark side, …fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate …leads to suffering.

7. Sharing is no bad thing. You think you may lose a toy but you will gain a friend. Careful you must be when sensing the future, as fear of loss is a path to the dark side. Instead, train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose. Ok so this one is a bit deep, but you catch our drift.

So there you go, Jedi Parent you make.

Diary of is a regular blog, by a regular Greenwich mum. Sharing experiences as a local parent (and member of this website) she’ll be writing about everything and anything. And being completely anonymous – you never know – you could have stood next to her in the Post Office or behind her in Cafe W…
