More2childcare is a new community Ofsted registered nursery in East Greenwich is offering a limited number of FREE places to local families with 3 and 4 year olds.
It’s unusual for privately owned nurseries to offer completely free places, but that’s where the “More” comes into it. More2childcare is pioneering a new approach to nursery care and work. The free offering is part of their commitment to help local families.
“More” ready for school– Led by two qualified teachers, our aim is to develop strong, resilient and independent thinkers, prepared for Primary School, through:
• Building self-esteem and confidence
• Strong links with local schools
• Circle time, singing and story-time sessions
• Small group work for phonics foundations and mark-making
• Classroom and timetable modelled on reception class
• Book borrowing schemes
• Teaching independence – i.e. self-selection, putting on own coat and shoes
• A mixture of child initiated play and adult led sessions with specialists across forest school, sport, music and art
“More” to the curriculum
Play-led sessions are supplemented with some adult led activities. We use the outdoor environment to support learning with forest school and gardening sessions. All children participate in our ABC (Agility, Balance, Co-ordination) Sports sessions with Pro Infinity Sports and receive a music session once per week with a music specialist. One of our Pre-school teachers’ specialist subject is Art.
“More” flexibility
We have a limited number of morning only (9am-12pm) or afternoon only (1pm-4pm) places that run across 38 weeks of the year. These are FREE. If you’re working or need more flexibility you can add sessions on – these incur a charge. Additional sessions can be booked in blocks of two. If you need childcare all year round the minimum booking is two days (or x4 mornings or afternoons).
“More” to communities
More2childcare was set up by three local and business women as a Community Interest Company (social enterprise). We are co-founders of The Bridge in East Greenwich Pleasaunce and are passionate about driving long-term social change.
We challenge outdated, inflexible childcare provision and traditional employment models. Instead we want to give parents a voice, offer flexible, quality nursery options and support to find or pursue family friendly work choices. As well as a nursery onsite we have a work-hub for hot desking and provide training courses to help parents return to the workplace.
Centrally located behind the Forum at Greenwich on Trafalgar Road a few minutes walk from Maze Hill Station and on bus links to North Greenwich, the nursery is in a former Victorian School with bright, light and airy rooms with high ceilings. The Pre-school room has direct access to our playground.
But my child’s not 3 yet we hear you cry. Don’t worry – they offer childcare to children from 3 months to 5 years in our other rooms, although our baby room is now full until February 2017.
