Ben’s Beginners Lets Cook!

BensBeginnersBen’s Beginners, which launched this week, is a bid to get kids and families cooking together.

Cooking is going back on the National Curriculum this September after a 20 year absence and the first time ever, practical cookery will be compulsory for children up to Year 9. Sadly we have been left with a huge knowledge gap affecting children of today, as some parents are not passing down any cooking culture or skills.
Ive noticed a real interest from our twins on what I’m making and the ingredients i’m using.

Staggeringly though, recent research shows that 1 in 4 parents admit they have NEVER EVER cooked with their kids.

Every child that learns how to cook, shares their new skills with at least one other person – and 92% use them at home. Could you Imagine a world where families no longer need a kitchen in their home, as nobody is cooking anymore?

Ben’s Beginners commissioned this short, fly on the wall film, which brings to life the reality of the state of the nation. The film sees an estate agent taking unsuspecting families around a kitchen-less home and capturing their reaction. It’s been made to support the launch of Ben’s Beginners, the first online cooking channel, made just for children.

Recipes & Tips, for kids by kids

The online cooking Channel has a range of recipes, taught step by step with DJ BBQ. Lisa Faulkner, Celebrity Master chef and mum, has also made x10 basic skill videos on how to grate, peel and chop to give the beginners basic skills to learn and take home to the kitchen. They also have great tips from Child Psychologist Richard Woolfson, on how to get your kids back into the kitchen and having fun.
